Comprehensible Input

Making your lesson content comprehensible to English langauge learnners (ELLs) is crucial in helping them to make gains in language proficiency and currciulum content.

It is a difficult task, and teachers of ELLs need to dig deep into their bag of tricks to enable EAL students to understand what they are being taught. 

There are a number of solid strategies that should play a part in any good lesson involving ELLs, such as talk partners, cooperative learning, image over-abundance and repreated rephrasing and recasting of concepts.
